Weekly devlog #2 - Potions and mushrooms
This week I have been drawing some new items for the next update. And I have also been working on improving the new client/android version.
New crystal shard sprites
Here you can see the new design of the crystal shards on the bottom. I knew for a while that I wanted to update these sprites. The old sprites were made at the beginning of development, and they looked more like gems then shards.
Mushrooms
Next update will also include these mushrooms. They are called milk white brittlegill, morel and magic mushroom respectively. The first two will be found near trees. And the magic mushroom will be found in caves. More about that in another devlog. Here you can see how the design of the magic mushroom changed over time:
Slime in a jar
Using this new jar you can capture and transport slimes. When you use a slime in a jar it spawns a slime at your location. These jars also have another purpose, but more on that in a later devlog.
Potions
One of the big new features of the next update is potions. These potions can be made using mushrooms and other ingredients. The yellow one for example is made using a golden apple and some mushrooms, and gives you a crystal shards boost when mining blocks.
Diamond skull
You can now combine diamonds and skulls to create diamond skulls. You can also use this block in a new recipe.
New client/android version progress
This week I added shadows, chat, colored text, zooming in/out, enemies, the player character and clothes to the new client. The new client is already starting to look almost identical to the current version! Reminder: If you want to be a tester of the android version you can fill out this form.
